New Post: When the Feminine roots into the Masculine. Quite Literally.
A story about wild unknown creativity still needing a rooted base.
When the Feminine roots into the Masculine. Quite literally.
A story about wild unknown creativity still needing a rooted base.
Hey Friend,
I have walked this road at least a hundred times, but I never noticed this tree and its counterpart, before today.
What stuck out to me was how it looks like two distinctly different trees, yet they are rooted together at the base of the trunk.
While one grows straight, the other is wild and unpredictable.
While one is tall, dark and stable…
The other is short, light and wild.
At first glance, I immediately saw a dance between the masculine and feminine energy.
That’s where our story begins today.

The Wild Unknown.
She needed a supportive base. She had known this for a long time, yet she was never able to find someone that could provide that level of support.
Support that was silent until asked.Stable when it counted.Vulnerable and flexible.Communicative, yet intuitive.Light and carefree, but also strong.
“What you’re asking for does NOT exist!” shouted her mother from across the street.
“You just need to take what you can get. Don’t be so picky!”
She thought about that term, picky, for a moment.
Is it wrong to be picky? Can you be too picky? Not picky enough? What are the consequences of each?
She just wanted someone she could merge with, to share soul-level truths with. Every time she thought about taking the path her mother suggested, she felt heavy, stuck and unhappy.
“NO! I am NOT going to settle.” she shouted back.
“Settling means that I am telling this world that it’s OK to give me less than I deserve.” she whispered to herself.
There was someone listening in the distance who heard her near silent tears through the wind. He agreed, and he too, had waited. For just the right fit. For the one that seems to stir along your path at just the right time.
He waited silently and in trust. He learned to weather storms. To stay grounded and rooted. To be strong, yet flexible. To communicate openly, and intuitively. To allow her space, yet to be standing by.
Suddenly a gust of wind blew, sending some of her leaves, over to him and his, back over to her.
Their energy crossed paths for the very first time. These messages crossed between them throughout the season.
As fall turned to a harsh, cold winter, she felt her base weakening. She found it difficult to move on from her past and she lived in her thoughts, tormenting her day after day. Thoughts of missed opportunities plagued her. She began to feel hopeless and despairing.
The support was always around her, rustling in the wind, pouring down in the rain, shining down through the stars and beaming from the sun. But, she could no longer feel it, or see it.
The soil she was rooted in turned dry, coarse and barren. She found herself fading away, with no desire to remain.
She made one last wish into the wind, and that was to be united with her soul mate.
Her soul, considering her request, realized it had two choices:
It could leave her body and move on to the afterlife. Unless another soul took over the body, the tree would die.
It could move on to the body of another tree, but only if that tree’s soul also wanted to leave, leaving the tree without one.
Her soul thought it over, considering both options carefully. There was no way to know how it would all turn out and both options felt like it wouldn’t be giving her what she wanted, her soul mate.
The afterlife sounded appealing, but what happens once on the other side?
What if it merged into another tree and was even more unhappy?
Douglas appeared before the Soul. His name was Douglas because he was a Douglas fir tree, in spirit. He stood there, glowing in a yellow wash of light around him surrounded by a faint rainbow glow.
When a Soul is about to cross-over, no matter where it goes, it needs to be led to the next place by something or someone that looks like it. This is to make sure the soul feels comfortable.
“Have you made your decision?” Douglas asked.
Soul looked all around, confused.
“I can see you are struggling. I can assure you, the answer is in your heart. You simply must listen. Close your eyes and it will present itself.”
Soul closed its eyes and suddenly, it saw itself floating through the air as a seed. It felt free for the first time in a long time.
“As you wish.” Douglas said.
Soul was immediately lifted out of the tree and was carried by the wind, as a free seed floating through the air, just like in the vision.
In another place, another soul had decided to leave his tree at the exact same time.
As each Soul drifted further and further from their former body until they each landed directly inside a perfectly sized hole, right next to one another.
A gust of wind pushed them together until they were touching.
“I remember you.” she said.
“I remember you, too.” he said
And that’s where their journey of a hundred years began.
The Lesson
Every human being is fifty percent masculine and fifty percent feminine energy. They co-exist and dance harmoniously with one another.
Without the wild abandon and creative freedom of the feminine energy, the masculine would not experience joy.
Without the grounded, rooted and stable support of the masculine energy, the feminine would struggle with consistency and commitment… burning hot until she burns out.
This is so much more than gender.
It’s the unwavering support that comes from stability, knowing that beyond all outside chaos and circumstances beyond our control, there is something, or someone that has our back.
Notice how she leans against him, rooted in him, yet free to move as she wishes. To expand, to explore, to grow.

It’s a dance of two energies that were born to be different, yet each unique and perfect in their own ways.
They grow together, in fact.
One firm and strong.
The other unpredictably exhilarating and free.
The energy you lean into is the one that comes to you naturally when you feel comfortable and safe to express yourself just as you are.
When a feminine energy is rooted in her own masculine energy, she accomplishes and serves herself through consistency, commitment and curiosity. This grounded, rooted energy enables her to flourish because it provides energetic stability. She knows what to expect and that creates a feeling of safety.
When she is ungrounded in her masculine energy, she may be highly sensitive and prone to burnout. She isn’t rooted in her own stability, so she may take on the burdens of others.
We could learn a lot from how these two dance together so deliciously.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on today’s tale.
